Blueprints for High-Availability DevOps Platforms: Designing Resilient CI/CD at Enterprise Scale
Abstract
Enterprise DevOps platforms increasingly serve as mission-critical delivery systems where downtime and release instability directly translate into business risk. This research proposes a reference architecture for high-availability CI/CD platforms that combines multi-region control planes, immutable build environments, and policy-driven release orchestration. The study evaluates redundancy strategies for artifact storage, build runners, and deployment controllers while incorporating automated failover, dependency health scoring, and progressive delivery safeguards. Experimental validation across simulated outage scenarios demonstrates measurable improvements in deployment continuity, recovery time objectives, and reduction of cascading failures during peak release windows.
